The GOOD, the not so BAD, and the UGLY!

The GOOD, is the office niche is done. I still have put finishing touches on it, and hook up the printer. The file cabinet got scratched, so a touch up was needed. I thought the wire basket hanging on the wall worked in two ways. It looks like a chicken coop for my farm theme, but also adds to the silver and gray accents.

I almost like my 23 year old couch again now that the walls are painted taupe. This couch has not one sign of wear and tear. Thus, the NOT SO BAD.

The UGLY! Aren't the two toned walls great! These books cases are solid teak it took three West Jordan Football players to move one. We have the UGLY job of clearing this corner out to paint the rest of the game room.

Memorial Day

It was a memorable Memorial Day. I didn't cook the whole day! Thanks Rick! We had the Jamie Wallace's, Brandon who got back from China last night, and the Stewart's for a BBQ. We had....
burgers with all the fixin's.

Yummy potato salad. Thanks Becky.

Veggies courtesy of Sam's Club.

The best sugar cookies made by Bri.

The kids had their usual fun the in back yard. It got quiet as we were talking and we looked over to find this. I ask Gavin what they were doing he said,"making soup." I have a big sandstone rock we hauled down from Utah. When it rains it fills up with water. Gavin got the idea to pull leaves off the bushes and put them in the water. They had a ball making their soup. We made sure that all hands were washed well after they were finished.

What a FUN day!

YUM!

Before and After...

I know the painting isn't finished yet, but any progress on the game room project makes me smile. After some thought and nudging, we painted the old computer table and file cabinet navy like the entertainment center. Home Depot was able to match the shelf we took in perfectly. I know we started this project a month ago but maybe by the summers end it will be completed.

Before

After
I don't like having the plastic file cabinet under the desk, but due to the lovely hurricanes we have around here you are told to keep things where you can grab and run. All important documents and papers go in there. I am not going to spend the time moving them in and out of the file cabinet every hurricane season. Once we get he walls painted and rearrange the wall art, I think it will be an improvement.

Texan's Perspective on Education (preschool style)

We went to Bay's preschool graduation tonight. The whole Wallace Fam was there but Uncle Jamie who is in Toronto, and Uncle Jarod who is busy becoming a lawyer. We thought we would be entertained by a cute little program and passing out of certificates. No, it was the real deal (as you can tell by the pictures). They started out with a few songs they had learned this past year, but then out came the caps and gowns. We were very impressed. Bay attended preschool at Cy-Woods High School this year, and has really enjoyed every minute of it. She is now ready for Kindergarten! Are we ready to let her grow up? not me...

They told all the kids but Bay to sing loud, they told Bay to sing normal.

10 things I love about my MOM

1. As beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.
2. Raised 10 children
3. Supported her husband in everything he did
4. Never heard her use a word of profanity of any kind
5. Loves everyone no matter what. Never heard her gossip about anyone
6. Would give her last dime to someone in need
7. She is artistic
8. Her beautiful alto voice
9. Her love of community and the people in it
10. Her devotion to God
My daughters in law always say she has already been translated. My Grandfather whom she cared for many years, always referred to her as an angel on earth. I would have to agree with them all.
I Love you MOM!!!

Happy Birthday LOO and Happy Mother's Day TOO!!!

Since Jamie is going to Toronto tomorrow, and Brandon is leaving for China on Friday, and Elizabeth and children are headed for Utah for a month, we decided to celebrate Loo's Birthday and Mother's Day tonight. We met at Macaroni Grill tonight for a delicious dinner and no dishes or clean up. Yea! The kids were great. Bay ate the "biggest meatball in the world," and Gavin, Benz, and Laynie licked their plates clean. Ike is still getting over strep throat he enjoyed the ice cream. Then we headed to our house for cake and ice cream.

Happy Birthday Looli!

What do you do on a hot steamy Saturday in Houston?

T-Ball of course. Armed with a coke, donuts (to smooth things out from last week), and my camera, Guggy was hanging out on the T-Ball field today. The torrential rains and floods have not made it pleasant to be outside in Houston this week. The humidity has been in the 80 to 90 percentile. But how could I miss Bay's game after missing last weeks (which we seldom do). The disappointment in the phone call we received later that day was a little more than this Guggy could take. Bay did great, and I think I am forgiven.

Bay swinging away. Bay is the only girl on her team, but she can play ball just as well as any of her teammates.

Bay running to first base.

Proof that Guggy brought donuts.

Benson throwing the ball to his Dad. Yes, he is using his broken collar bone arm to throw. I don't know if it will ever heal!

After every throw Benz would do a little happy dance, or in Benz case a serious happy dance.

Bryn hanging out in the stroller.
