Boo Party

Decided  to have the family over on Sunday evening for a little get together. I gave them their "Boo Lunch Boxes,"  books, and Halloween shirts.  It has become an October tradition for us.  I took this photo of the table before it was done, because I was afraid I would forget, and I did. Hopefully Brianne got a picture of the finished product. We were going to have mummy dogs and chili, but Bri didn't feel well. I told her I would make a casserole and salad.  As always, Loo scored a homerun with the carmel pumpkin cake.  We started out with dinner..

Table not finished, but main idea.
Ucky casserole told the kids it was twisted worms.  Had salad too.

Looli's famous creation.

Then it was outside for a pumpkin hunt.
 Ike always enjoys being outside.
Bailey was the only one who could reach the high ones.
Benson was very mythoical in finding his pumpkins.
 Benz inspecting his pumpkin.
Ike got the ones on the rocks.

Brynley really enJOYed finding her firsst pumpkin.

Jakey was happy to play with the ghost coaster he found in the house.

 Gang inspecting their loot.
 They had a great hunt.

Cute Bay with her new look, without one of her top teeth.

 Jake showing me his treasure
Ike had his emptied in no time flat.
Benz, newly potty trained, had a WEE accident in he pants on the way over.  He looked like a ghost in my t-shirt.
After the pumpkin hunt, the kids got their boxes and shirts.  I had them put them on for a picture.Took about  25 pictures, as always not every body cooperating.  The neighborhood kids were playing, and more interesting to watch than Guggy.

Happy  Halloween!

                                           BOO!
As always...we missed Jamie, Becky, Gavin, and Laynie!

And this is why I do it!

And this is why I do it...

Big Smiles....

Laynie looks so cute in her shirt. Bought by me, created cuteness by Aunt Looli!

More Smiles...
You know Gav is in a good mood when he will pose for you.  More of Looli's creation.

And finally keeping them busy for a second so Mom can have a minute to herself.

It makes all the modge podge stuck in my fingers and all over my scrapbook room totally worth it!
They had already read their books I sent them also.  These two  kiddos love to be read to. Happy October, Gavin and Laynie!  We love, and miss you!

Celebrating October

Twas the month before Halloween,  and all through the house not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The garland was hung on the stairway with care...

a miniature witch was hanging mid air...
The geckos were playing outside on the porch,  wishing to make every bug it's corpse.

The pumpkins were placed on the tables here and there... and fall leaves scattered about, as if blown through the air.

The village was ready to celebrate the night, when the grandchildren come, and squeal with delight.
The Halloween stories are ready to enjoy, and the Fisher Price Halloween to be their favorite toy.

Just lights and yard art to be placed on the grounds, to get ready for Halloween's familiar sound...
TRICK OR TREAT!

Sister Sister

This is the 3rd time in thirty years that I have seen my sister move away. I hated it every time. I know that sometimes I drive her absolutely crazy, but we still had fun. She is an incredible person that would do anything for anybody. Her kids have been extremely blessed to have her as their Mother, and so have I, as her sister. I will miss our sporadic lunches and family-get -togethers. I am glad that her daughter Sarah and husband will live in their house while they are gone, it makes it seem not so final. I hope they have a great time in Switzerland. I don't know if I will make it over to see her, who knows? We got together for a little while last night to say good bye.

Becky is a Grandma to a lot of extra kids including Brandon's family, Bri's family, and Jamie's Family. I know 7 little kiddos that will miss her.

August Happenings

Man, August has flown by. Here is August at a glance.

This actually is what is happening today... September 1st, but close enough. We finally had someone come and paint the 20 foot walls in the entry. I am so excited I can't stand it. They look so much better after 10 years of wear and tear.

I am so glad we didn't try to do it.

The last weeks in August have been dedicated to home improvement. Nice deep wire basket drawers by my sink for dish towels and such.

These chrome drawers are great for the heavy stuff in the cupboard. No more pulling everything out to fined something.

I also decorated Rick's new office at work with some pictures of beautiful rock art taken in Lake Powell, and outside of Vernal, Utah where we grew up. Some of the pottery was made by the kids in high school, some were gifts, and some we bought.

He needs some plants but all in all I thought it looked pretty good. His boss said it looked like an art gallery...I am still trying to think if that was a complement or a slam. I think is looks nice!

August is a big Birthday month for us. Bailey, Me, Becky my sis, Becky my dnl, and many nieces and nephews.
Bailey celebrating her 7th birthday.

Looli made this darling cupcake cake for my birthday. 5 years plus........?

The neighborhood squirrels are getting so friendly...busted for digging under my tree! .

Here is his partner in crime standing atop the neighbors garden art.

Jake is cutting teeth. He came over the other day and I gave him a Popsicle. This was his second Popsicle for the day, listen to his sound effects... hysterical.

Along came a spider and sat down...

This would have been a great post for Halloween. I am sure that one of these pics will make the header for October! I always get a little nervous when Rick summons me to come outside. I never go out willingly. Why you ask? First of all, he always says, "come and see my friend." He says it like he really means it. So finally, I go out to see his "friend." His friends usually consists of a snake, a lizards, or a toad...but this night it was a SPIDER! Not your normal spider, but the grand old size of Texas, SPIDER! The thing was HUGE! It's web had the circumference of about 36 inches and the line that anchored it span 20 feet across the driveway to the big oak in our front yard! Rick was so intrigued by it, he wouldn't harm it. He got totally upset when I told him where the Raid was. So...we did nothing. We never saw our "friend" after that evening...but will talk about it for a long time to come.

You can see how big it is!

The anchor lines were up for weeks.

I still can't figure out how Rick drove his car in the garage wiyhout knocking it down.

Up close and personal!
